Shannon Avril Martin

In the run-up to Art Trade, we introduce the participating artists by asking them some questions. Today: Shannon Avril Martin, who is making new work for an upcoming solo exhibition.

What does an artist do throughout the day?
For the most part I do the same as anyone else, I just spend extra time on finding the perfect pink pencil for my fashion illustrations. And on discovering new musicians since I cannot work without suitable music.

Which artwork (well-known or unknown) do you wish you had made yourself?
Probably each piece painted by William Holman-Hunt. His detailing and use of vibrant colors is insane. If you would ask me this question again in a few days or weeks you might get a different answer though because my preferences change a lot and are totally depending on my mood.

What would you have become, if you weren’t an artist?
A forensic detective. I still might become a forensic detective in my next life!

Why do you think Art Trade is a good idea?
It’s a refreshing way to showcase your work.

What other projects are you working on?
Making new work for an upcoming solo exhibition and a pattern design portfolio, because I would love to design fabric patterns in the near future.
