Lonneke van der Palen

In the run-up to Art Trade, we introduce the participating artists by asking them some questions. Today: photographer Lonneke van der Palen, who shares her love for coffee with Twin Peak's special agent Dale Cooper.

What does an artist do throughout the day?
Drinking a lot of coffee to start with, spending hours answering emails, trying to get inspired somehow and if there is time left, actually start doing some work by the end of the day.
If it's a day of shooting though, you start as early as possible and you're lucky if you are finished before dinner time.

What would you have become, if you weren’t an artist?
I would have been a drummer in a Rock 'n Roll band

Which artwork (well-known or unknown) do you wish you had made yourself?
Twin Peaks by David Lynch

Why do you think Art Trade is a good idea?
Art is in most cases unnecessary expensive, so by trading art it becomes affordable for the people you actually want to own your work.

What other projects are you working on?
In most cases I'm working on 2 or 3 projects at the same time, but an exceptional one right now is publishing my first photography book.
