Paradise means something different to all of us. It can be a white beach with palm trees or a desolate American highway surrounded by desert. In this exhibition, eleven artists reflect on their idea of paradise.
Our longing for paradise is timeless. It says something about what we desire as humans. Dreaming of deserted beaches or living in the jungle shows that we want to return to nature, back to a simple life, far away from the fast pace of our everyday lives. We flee from the declining security of a world that seems increasingly unfair and where our ideals are slowly slipping out of our hands.
Our search for paradise will always continue. It is most beautiful during the moments we long for it. In the exhibition we celebrate the search for paradise as a catalyst for improving our lives. Nevertheless, we accept that paradise is no more than a fata morgana.
