Erik Mattijssen in Museum Jan Cunen

Villa Constance, now the Jan Cunen Museum in Oss, was once home to Poppentheater Marag, where contemporary and recognisable stories were brought to life. Merel van den Nieuwenhof, curator at the museum, brings together work by some 16 artists under the title Puppet Masters. In doing so, she shows that a puppet is much more than child's play. It can be a powerful tool for exposing social trends and issues. Who is pulling the strings? Themes such as power, control, play, gender, religion and identity are inevitably addressed.
